MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE 

The policies and affairs of SARDA are managed by a National Council with an elected president as its chairman and all the regional chairmen as its members. Each region has a regional chairman and a committee elected by its members. Administration is in the hands of a national secretary in the Cape Town office and regional secretaries.

MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION

SARDA has two grades of membership ie: CORPORATE: Companies, Institutes, Produce Markets, Non Commercial Organisations, Research Institutes, etc. 

INDIVIDUALS

All corporate members have equal voting rights whereas individual members do not have a voting right in matters of policy or the election of office bearers. Each member is classified into one of the following categories according to their predominant business activity in the Industry:

  Manufacturer/Processor of Temperature Controlled Perishable Products

 Retailer of Refrigerated Perishable Products.

 Third Party Distributor of Refrigerated Perishable Products.

 Suppliers of Equipment or Services needed for implementing the Cold Chain.

 Operator of Public Cold Store. 

 Public Refrigerated Carrier.

 Others

 Individuals

 Networking with role players in the cold chain industry.

Recognition of a commitment to uphold quality standards in main taining the cold chain.

 

 

 

FEE STRUCTURE

All non-honorary members are required to pay an annual membership fee in accordance with the number of centres in which they are registered.

SARDA has regional centres in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Nelspruit and any member is entitled to be registered in one, two, three or all four centres depending on the structure of their business. Annual fees are clue on Ist March of each year and are payable by the 30th April. All joining members are required to pay a full annual fee irrespective of the month of joining. Membership is only valid whilst fees are paid.

Fee Structure Effective Ist March 2000.

INDIVIDUALS: R1 00.00

NON-COMMERCIAL ORGANISATIONS: R1 50.00

CORPORATE MEMBERS, REGISTERED IN:

One Centre     R600.00

Two Centres    R800.00

Three Centres  R1000.00

Four Centres    R1 200.00

 

TRAINING

SARDA is committed to the upliftment of operating stan­dards and procedures in the Cold Chain Industry and keeping with this aim, offers training courses either in house, for specific companies, or as open courses for all interested parties.

Courses available are: 

·         Temperature Measurement and Management in the Cold Chain Industry.            

·         Temperature Management for Drivers of Refrigerated Vehicles.             

·         Safe Handling of Refrigerants. (This course is done in conjunction with SAIRAC)
